Gold & silver (jewellers)

A jeweller sells by weight at the day's rate. In Zevox you set the rate per tola once a day and every gold / silver item's sale rate follows it. The gold sale works out each piece — net weight (gross less stones) at the day's rate, wastage (kaat), making (mazdoori) and the stones' price — and takes the customer's old gold at your buying rate less kaat on the same bill, so the khata shows only the difference. These screens are on the website.

Switch it on

On the computer (website)

  1. Open Settings → Business & features.
  2. Tick Gold & silver (jewellery) and tap Save.

Tips

  • A shop made as Gold jeweller has it on already.

Gold and silver items

On the computer (website)

  1. On Items & Prices tap Add item and type the name (for example Gold 22K, Old gold 22K, Silver).
  2. Under Gold / silver choose Gold and its Karat, or Silver. The first unit becomes Gram.
  3. Tap Add Tola unit (11.664 g) to sell or buy by tola too, then save.

Tips

  • Make one item for the gold you sell and one old-gold item for each karat you take back — old gold goes into its stock in grams.

Today's rates

On the computer (website)

  1. Open Stock → Gold rates.
  2. Type the selling and buying rate per tola for each karat you deal in (24K, 22K, 21K, 18K) and for silver. The per-gram rate shows beside it.
  3. Tap Save today's rates. Every gold / silver item's sale rate moves to today's rate by its weight.

Tips

  • Rate history lists the earlier days.
  • Only staff who can manage items can change the rates.

Sell by weight, with old gold

On the computer (website)

  1. Open Bills → Gold sale and choose the customer (or keep walk-in).
  2. Under Pieces by weight add the gold item and type the Gross weight, Stones weight, Wastage (kaat) as % or grams, Making (mazdoori) per gram, % or fixed, and the Stones price. The piece's breakdown shows at once.
  3. Add anything else on the same bill under Other items.
  4. If the customer gives old gold, add your old-gold item under Old gold taken and type its weight and Kaat %. Its value at today's buying rate shows.
  5. Check the difference, type what is Paid now (or Paid back now when the old gold is worth more) and tap Save gold sale.

Tips

  • The bill shows the gold line at the gram rate, with separate lines for wastage, making and stones.
  • With old gold, Zevox also makes a purchase bill from the customer. The khata shows both, so only the difference is due.
  • Weights also show in tola, masha and ratti.

Karigar ledger

On the computer (website)

  1. Add the karigar as a supplier first.
  2. Open Khata → Karigars and tap Add entry.
  3. Choose the karigar, then Issued (gold given), Received (jewellery back) or Wastage allowed, the metal and karat, and the weight in grams. The fine (pure) weight is worked out.
  4. Open a karigar to see every entry with the running fine balance. Cancel entry keeps the row, crossed out.

Tips

  • Pay the karigar's labour with an ordinary payment or purchase; the ledger counts only metal.

Common problems

What to do: Today's rate for that karat isn't saved. Open Gold rates, type it and save, then save the sale again.
“… is not a gold / silver item”
What to do: Open the item and choose Gold (with its karat) or Silver under Gold / silver.
“… is a customer — a karigar is a supplier”
What to do: Karigars are suppliers. Change the party's type to Supplier or Both.
Old gold can't be added
What to do: Taking old gold needs the right to make purchases. Ask the owner.
Gold sale isn't in the menu
