Import items and customers from Excel (CSV)
If you already have a list in Excel or Google Sheets, you don't have to type everything again. Fill the Zevox template, save it as CSV and upload it. Every row is checked first — nothing is saved unless all rows are right.
Import step by step
On the computer (website)
- Go to Settings → Import / export.
- Under Import items (or Import customers & suppliers), tap Template to download the sample file.
- Open it in Excel or Google Sheets and fill one row per item (or customer). Keep the first row (the column names) as it is.
- Save it as CSV.
- Tap Choose CSV, pick the file and tap Check.
- If there are errors, Zevox shows the row number and the problem. Fix the file and check again.
- When all rows are fine, tap Import (the button shows how many rows).
On the phone app
- Go to More → Settings → Import / export.
- Tap Choose CSV file, or copy the rows (with the header row) from Google Sheets and use Paste rows.
- Tap Check, fix any errors, then tap Import.
Tips
- The items template has columns for the units (e.g. Pcs and Carton with its size), a rate for each price list, opening stock, cost and the low-stock alert.
- For customers and suppliers, put the old balance in opening_balance — it becomes the first line of their khata.
- Names that already exist are skipped, so you can safely import the same file again.
- Up to about 2000 rows per file.
Common problems
- Urdu names show as strange letters
- What to do: Save the file as “CSV UTF-8” in Excel.
- “File is too large”
- What to do: Split it into two files of under 2000 rows.
